Things You Should Know about SBI PO 2017 | 2300 Vacancies


SBI PO 2017 notification for the year 2017 is finally out and this time with number of vacancies 2300. Registration portal is already live from today and it will last till 6th March. As per tentative schedule, the prelims exam will be on 29th & 30th Apr and 6th & 7th May, 2017. Read this complete article to get brief idea about the SBI PO exam, Are you eligible to apply, if yes how to apply. The SBI PO Exam

This para is only for those who are completely new to this exam. SBI PO exam is conducted in three phase. First is Preliminary Examination. This exam will examine your English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability in 100 marks each question carrying 1 marks and in a duration of 1 hour. That is, in 60 minutes you are to attempt 100 questions. To make it possible, it is highly recommended to learn QuantitativeAptitude shortcuts like Multiplication Shortcuts, Percentage Calculation Shortcuts etc. Only if you become successful in Prelims, you will be shortlisted for Main Examination. Main Examination is a combination of objective and descriptive part carrying 200 and 50 marks respectively. Objective Test is a 3 hour duration test which will examine your Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, Data Analysis & Interpretation, General/Economy/Banking Awareness and English Language. Descriptive Test is of 30 minutes duration that will mainly test your depth in English Language by means of Letter Writing or Essay Writing. After successful clearance of mains, you have to appear in Group Discussions and Interview which carries 20 marks and 30 marks respectively. So you need to know well how to prepare for Interview and GD. Marks of mains plus interview and GD will only be considered and final selection list will be made.
One more thing to know, you can not appear in SBI PO infinite number of times. General candidates are restricted to 4 times and OBC and PWD to 7 times. However, appearing in prelims will not be counted.

Are you eligible?

The only necessary educational qualification required to appear in this exam is graduation from any recognized university. Age should be in between 21 years to 30 years as on 1st April, 2017. However, there is relaxation for reserved category.

But, How to Apply?

All you need to do is go to State Bank of India's official website or Register as new user and fill all the necessary information and pay the requisite amount through online mode only and then upload the scanned photograph and signature in required format. You are done. The fee is Rs. 600, however for SC/ST/PWD, it is Rs. 100.

NHPC Fellowship Scheme for ASSAM | Apply Now

Here is a good news for all those perusing master’s degree in Engineering, Geology, Geophysics, Mass Communication & Journalism, Hotel Management; Graduate in Engineering, Diploma in Engineering, ITI, MBA and MBBS that National Hydroelectric Power Corporation Limited is going to offer a fellowship program named “NHPC FELLOWSHIP SCHEME FOR ASSAM 2016” specially for the students of Assam. Under this fellowship program, students can get benefit up to Rs. 10,000 per month. So, check the eligibility criteria for the said fellowship below and apply before it’s gone.

Eligibility Criteria

So, first and foremost, this scholarship is only applicable to the students who are domicile of Assam. Next criteria is that gross annual income of the family of the student should not be more than Rs. 2 Lakhs in a financial year. The students should not be availing any other financial assistance in any form. Must have obtained minimum 50% marks in the qualifying examination. The list of required qualifying examination, scholarship amount and number scholarship available for each respective courses are given in the table below.

Apply for Engineering and Technological Merit Scholarship (Both Fresh and Renewal)


The Engineering and Technological Merit Scholarship is a scholarship scheme from the house of Director of Technical Education, Assam. The scholarship is awarded to the meritorious students admitted to various courses under engineering and technology in any recognized university, college or institution in India during the current academic session. The courses includes Post-graduate degree in Engineering and Technology considering all the branches, Post-graduate degree or diploma courses in Business Management and Administration, degree courses in Engineering and Technology considering all the branches and the diploma courses.

 Benefit of the Engineering and Technological Merit Scholarship

For students admitted to Post-graduate degree in Engineering and Technology, a sum of Rs. 1000/- pm will be provided in both inside and outside of the states.
For students admitted to Post-graduate degree or diploma courses in Business Management and Administration, a sum of Rs. 250/- pm will be provided in both inside and outside of the states.
For students admitted to degree courses in Engineering and Technology, a sum of Rs. 150/- pm will be provided inside the state and Rs. 250/- pm outside of the states.
For students admitted to diploma courses, a sum of Rs. 150/- pm will be provided in both inside and outside of the states.
Also, the benefit of L.S. Book grant and travelling allowances for degree and diploma courses will be provided for entire course of study.

How to apply for the Scholarship

Interested candidates may apply for the scholarship through the official portal Online application process will continue till 30th October, 2016 from 1st October, 2016. Candidates must clearly mention category of the scholarship applying for and the amount of the scholarship at the time of online submission. After online submission, candidates must take the print out of the same and submit it to the head or principal of their own institution along with duly attested copies of mark sheet of the qualifying examination, certificate of qualification, conduct and character, age, PRC, first page of bank account etc. The principal or head of the institution are to send the application to the Office of the Director of Technical Education, Assam, Kahilipara, Guwahati-19 by 15th November, 2016. A form of bond, which is available at the website, also has to be submitted along with the application form.

Combined Merit Scholarship for Degree and P.G. (Master Degree) students, Assam


The Combined Merit Scholarship is a scheme of directorate of higher education, government of Assam for the students studying in the first year of undergraduate and post graduate courses. The scholarship has been provided by the directorate of higher education every year since its inception. The notice for this scholarship is generally published after the declaration of Assam Higher Secondary Education Council, Assam results as well as degree results. Eligibility Criteria

It is clearly stated at the official website of DHE that this scholarship is only for meritorious and needy students. Those having good academic records throughout and at least 60% marks in the qualifying examinations are eligible to apply for the scholarship. The qualifying examination for Degree scholarship is Higher secondary and the qualifying examination for PG scholarship is Three Years Degree Course.

How to Apply

Eligible candidates may download the format of the application form from the link given or alternatively format can be downloaded from DHE’s official website The candidates may type the application form as per the format and take a printout of the same for filling up. The filled up form along with all supporting documents attested by a gazetted officer may be sent to the following address through the head of the institution on or before 31st August, 2016 -

Previous year (2015) PG admission cutoff marks of Gauhati University

Gauhati University is progressively becoming a popular destination for higher education for the entire northeast. Thousands of students apply to get seat in almost 40 departments of the university every year. With the limited number of seats availability, cut-off mark for each department of Gauhati University is seen to be prominently increasing every year. For the academic year 2016-17, issuing and submission process of application form is going on and will end up on 22nd of July, 2016. As the application submission process will over, university will conduct a entrance test for other university students and all interdisciplinary subjects, that are- Biotechnology, Computer Science, Electronics and Communication Technology, Micro-Electronics and advance communication, Environmental Science, Instrumentation & USIC, Library & Information Science, Linguistics and ELT, Microbiology, Mass Communication, Psychology, Sociology, Women's Studies and Comparative Indian Literature. The selection list with cut-off marks 2016 will be made available in the respective departments and university website on 5th August, 2016.

It will be worth to mention that, few departments, while preparing the selection list and cut off marks combine the marks of entrance test and degree marks, in contrast some departments only consider the entrance marks. In the above list, Electronics & Communication Technology and Micro-Electronics & Advance Communication cut off marks were prepared combing 50% of marks from entrance and 50% marks from Degree, while Instrumentation department prepared solely on the basis of marks obtained in the entrance test.

Applicants have to apply through online from the official website of the college Registration of online application starts from 17th July, 2016 to 24th July, 2016. On the homepage of the official website, there is a link as 'Online Admission'. On clicking the link, you will find another link as 'download challan copy'. Download that challan copy, take a print out and filled up the challan and deposit the challan along with Rs 200/- to the Punjab National Bank, Tezpur A/C no : 3306000100081787. After successfully making the payment, do visit the same link. In the place provided for entering the challan number, enter your challan number and click on the 'Proceed'. Filled up all the required details and upload the passport size photograph. Thus after completing the submission process, an acknowledgement form will be generated which you need to print. The acknowledgement will be required to produce at the time of admission.
